‘Bringing people and cultures together’
Gévezé is in Brittany, North West of Rennes, about 30km from St Malo. Gévezé is not unlike Broughton Astley in many ways, a rural community with an influx of new residents.

The aims of the BATON are:
• To promote and foster friendship and understanding between the people of Broughton Astley and Gévezé and those of other communities with which BATON may later form links
• To encourage visits by individuals and groups to and from linked communities, particularly by children and young people, and the development of personal contacts, and by doing so broaden the mutual understanding of the cultural recreational, educational and commercial activities of the linked communities
• To organize fund-raising and social activities to foster the aims of BATON
About Us
Since we first started our Association in 1993 there have been lots of local families both interested and involved in the visits in both directions.
It was wonderful to see that last year when our Gevazion friends came to stay in Broughton Astley, that they had managed to bring with them about five or six families who had not been previously involved. Most of these are young families with small children who had probably not even been to England before.
BATON, as we call our Association, is always open for new friends and members to join. Not only would you be able to experience cultural exchanges between our two villages, but also be part of the social community that we have here in Broughton Astley.
If you are concerned that your French is limited or even non existent do not let that deter you. Many of our members have the same limitations, and speaking French is not compulsory. In Gévezé they are able to find families who are able to speak English, and they always appreciate that they can improve by speaking to us.
